Whilst we have done this show for the love of doing it, pushing the boundaries of festive display lighting, and sharing the festive joy, it would be nice if we could raise some money for a few organisations and charities.
Our 2018 show raised £2592 for our chosen charities – Warlingham School, Warlingham Events, The Air Ambulance Services, and Bulldog Rescue.
This year, we have changed out 2 of the charities, and you can read about them below.
The Breck Foundation
The Breck Foundation is a charity founded by Lorin LaFave after the tragic loss of her 14 year old son Breck Bednar through internet grooming.
Using Brecks story, Breck Foundation Speakers travel the UK educating the Digital Generation to keep safer online. We campaign for a safer internet and help train police, educators, health practitioners, safeguarding leads, parents and pupils to ensure that young people are empowered to make safer choices for themselves online.
This is a locally run charity, and this issue can affect all our children, and we are proud to support The Breck Foundation this year.
The Brigitte Trust
The Brigitte Trust is a Surrey based independent registered charity offering emotional support and practical help at home to people and their families facing cancer, MND, MS, heart and lung failure and other life-threatening illness.
Warlingham Events
Whilst not a charity, this group of people are responsible for all the local events, in and around Warlingham, including the Warlingham Christmas Lights around the village. We would like to support them and help them keep up their good work.
Warlingham School Drama Tech Department
Warlingham School is the villages local secondary and 6th form. It has a great drama department with a technical club that supports all the schools shows and events. We would like to try to help fund that club acquire, update and maintain their equipment, so that the pupils of the club can get more lighting, sound and AV knowledge.
